1.The BIG Mistake to Avoid Selecting a House Facade

If you look at any new home, the first thing that attracts or detracts you is the quality of the facade.  Like it or not, people choose homes based on what it looks like and how functional it is.  How appealing is the home to them.  If you build an ugly cramp home your chances of selling it in future is very unlikely.  The person who ends up buying it may extend the home or even demolish it.

If your block is small, then you will be stuck with only a certain number of facades that will look attractive.  However, if you block of land is wider and deeper, then you can have the luxury of many good looking house facades.  Be warned not to choose modern facades that could go out of date and devalue your home.  Many people still like traditional styles such as Queen Anne bay windows because they are timeless but most importantly look good and appeal to the wider public.

An ugly looking home will appeal to less people on the market and hence your chances of getting the price you want is very unlikely.

Hint: I suggest stick to the basics and what has worked in the past.  Choose traditional facades that many people like rather than go modern and extravagant.  Unless you are confident with your personal tastes in colours and design then stick to the facades that work.  You can ask your builder for advice on what is popular.  It is that simple.

If you have a narrow block, you may have to choose between having a double carport or double garage versus double garage with a character face or frontage.  Having a double garage or carport on a narrow block will mean you may not have space for a facade with a window.  This isn’t all bad; it just means you won’t have many choices in your facade selection.
